Successful relocation to temporary facilities
We are happy to report that Ozgene ARC animals were successfully moved to their new temporary locations between 27-29 June. The move went well and we have not observed any adverse effects on the animals due to the relocation. Time-critical shipments were delivered on the week following the move and full-scale shipping, including any postponed shipments, commenced last week.
We are pleased to announce our arrangements with the University of Western Australia (UWA), which has graciously leased vivarium space in their Biomedical Research Facility. The leased area is self-contained, the animals are still managed by our staff, systems and processes, and there is no crossover between Ozgene staff and UWA staff.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to UWA for their invaluable help and support, which benefits not only Ozgene ARC but the entire research community in Australia. Their assistance ensures the continued availability of research animals and services across the country.
Temporary animal housing
- Oz1 immunocompromised mouse & rat strains are housed at Ozgene’s current animal facility with our custom-generated mouse lines.
- Oz2/3/5 Mouse Stock Lines are housed at the UWA Biomedical Research Facility in a self-contained area.
- Oz4 Rat Stock Lines are housed at Ozgene’s premises in a clean refitted space that has not held animals before.
Health testing
We will continue quarterly health testing in all areas to monitor any changes in the health status. All health reports and strain lists can be found on our biosecurity page.
Next steps
As we settle into our temporary areas, there will be some restrictions on colony expansion due to limited space. Given the increasing demand, we have prioritised the continued expansion of the C57BL/6 colony and are monitoring the others.
The refit of the new building is progressing well, with an anticipated move-in date of November 2024.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this transition period. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
